New Patient Consult Dr. Ben Tucker Riverside Chiropractic London Chiropractor

Meet Dr. Ben Tucker – London Chiropractor

Raised in London, Ontario. Practicing Here Since 2014.

Dr. Ben Tucker didn’t stumble into chiropractic. He grew up going to a chiropractor right here in London, and watching what that care did for his family is what set everything in motion.

His dad had been dealing with chronic headaches for years. Doctors couldn’t find a lasting solution, and the best answer he was given was to keep taking painkillers. He eventually tried chiropractic as an alternative and finally found real relief. His mom had a similar experience with an ongoing SI joint problem that chiropractic care helped significantly. That same chiropractor became the one young Ben saw growing up, the one he’d eventually work alongside, and the one he’d take over from when Dr. Bob Hardick retired in 2016.

Riverside Chiropractic has been part of Dr. Ben’s life since before he could tell you what a chiropractor actually did. Now it’s his, and he’s spent the better part of a decade building it into the kind of clinic he always hoped it could be.

Education & Credentials

Dr. Ben’s academic path was deliberate and thorough. He earned his Honours Specialization in Kinesiology (BA) from the University of Western Ontario in 2010, graduating with honours. He went on to complete his Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto in 2014, graduating Magna Cum Laude. That same year he completed a 300-hour Certificate in Medical Acupuncture through McMaster University.

Since graduating he has pursued ongoing clinical education including certification in the EXSTORE Orthopedic System, a structured approach to assessment and treatment, and the Activator Method, a precise, instrument-assisted chiropractic technique.

Dr. Ben holds Ontario chiropractic license number 6661 and is a member of the Ontario Chiropractic Association, the Canadian Chiropractic Association, and the Canadian Chiropractic Protective Association.

During his time at CMCC, Dr. Ben was awarded the David W. Artis Memorial Award, given to a student who has demonstrated a genuine understanding of what it means to be a chiropractor. Dr. Artis, one of the first chiropractors of colour in the 1960s, made a lasting impression on his patients and the profession through principled, community-centered care. It’s an award Dr. Ben is proud of.

Building the Practice

After receiving his license in July 2014, Dr. Ben began practicing independently at Riverside Chiropractic, sharing the clinic space with Dr. Hardick while building his patient base from the ground up. In the early days that meant handing out flyers to nearby neighborhoods and businesses, giving free informational sessions, and doing whatever it took to let people know he was there and ready to help.

When Dr. Hardick retired in 2016, Dr. Ben took over the practice officially. Rather than starting over somewhere new, he had the continuity of the space, the equipment, and the relationships that made Riverside what it already was, and the opportunity to build on that foundation his own way.

He has since been featured in Cliniko’s clinic spotlight series, recognized specifically for his communication approach and the patient experience he has built at Riverside. You can read that article here. (link to cliniko.com article)

Riverside Chiropractic has also served as a clinical externship site for a chiropractic student from CMCC, with Dr. Ben serving as the supervising clinician, a role that reflects his commitment to the profession beyond his own four walls.

How Dr. Ben Practices

Every patient at Riverside starts the same way: with a real assessment. Not a quick intake and straight to the table, but a thorough evaluation that includes orthopedic and postural testing, spinal tension scans, range of motion assessment, strength testing, and joint movement analysis. Dr. Ben uses the EXSTORE Orthopedic System as part of this process to ensure the assessment is structured and the findings are objective.

From there, he explains what he found in plain language, outlines a clear treatment plan, and schedules a progress exam at a defined point in care so both he and the patient can confirm things are actually improving. That progress exam isn’t optional or informal. It’s a built-in part of how he practices.

He also creates private YouTube exercise videos for patients to follow between visits, so home rehab instructions don’t get lost or forgotten. Patients receive links to their specific exercises after each appointment and can watch them as many times as needed.

Dr. Ben uses a range of techniques depending on what fits the patient best, including Diversified adjustments, Activator, joint mobilization, drop table techniques, soft tissue therapy, and medical acupuncture. His clinical focus areas include chronic low back pain, headaches, and postural dysfunction, conditions he sees daily and where he has developed particular depth of experience.

Outside the Clinic

Dr. Ben was born and raised in London, and after everything his career has taken him through, this is still where he chose to plant roots and raise his family.

He and his wife, married since 2009, are the parents of four daughters. As a family they spend time camping in their travel trailer (what the Tucker household calls glamping), staying active through CrossFit, biking, and swimming, and making good use of the backyard for BBQs and ice cream sundaes.

Growing up in London in the nineties meant riding bikes with his best friend and being home before the streetlights came on. In high school he played drums in a rock band and had the hair to match, something his daughters find hard to believe. He still plays drums and loves music, even if the hair is a distant memory.

His approach to his own health reflects his approach to his patients. He believes good health is less about how you feel today and more about the investment you’re making in the decades ahead. His personal goal is to stay strong and active enough to one day help his grandchildren move furniture, or keep up with whatever adventures they have in mind. The choices made today shape the quality of life tomorrow, and he means that as much for himself as for anyone who walks through his door.
